You can visit all 6 waterfalls in one day or split them into two days. All of them located a short driving distance from @visitmountshasta. We started really early to make sure we have enough time to enjoy each view and avoid the heat in the middle of the day. We started in Dunsmuir, where we are staying. (we visited Burney Falls on the way here the day before 😉). 1. McCloud Lower Falls - Total Length: 0.2 miles Elevation gain: 3 feet Past of McCloud River’s trio of falls, located about 5 miles east of McCloud, CA, off Highway 89 Reachable via a large paved parking lot and walk down on the staircase leading to the water’s edge. We hiked the McCloud River Falls Trail this year to Middle falls and back and drive to upper Falls. It’s a gorgeous 4 mile round-trip hike to go to all 3 falls You can also drive between them; each has its own parking area. 2. McCloud Middle Falls Total Length: 0.8miles Elevation gain: 157 feet Easy/moderate. It is the largest and most dramatic of the three McCloud River waterfalls 3. McCloud Upper Falls Total Length: 0.3 miles Elevation gain: 6 feet Just walk along the pavement path and you can see it from the scenic overlook 4. Faery Falls - Total Length: 1.4 miles Elevation gain: 255 feet Hidden waterfall at the Ney Springs Canyon. We used @alltrails to get directions, because we were reading about that Google map doesn’t take you to correct starting point. 5. Hedge Creek Falls Total Length: 0.6miles Elevation gain: 160 feet Easy. It’s cute waterfall. The water pours over ancient basalt cliffs, creating a cool curtain of water framed by volcanic rock. 6. Burney Falls Total Length: 0.3miles Easy. Pay fee to access 129-foot waterfall fed year-round by underground springs. Unlike typical river-fed falls, it features thousands of silky water streams cascading over moss-covered cliffs, creating a unique and mesmerizing curtain effect. Its one of California’s most iconic and photogenic waterfalls 🚫 No dogs allowed on trails to see the waterfall from closer, but you get a great view from the paved main overlook. Which of these waterfalls will you visit with your dog? #mtshasta #waterfall #California #mccloud #mccloudfalls #burneyfalls #hedgecreekfalls #faeryfalls #dogfriendly
