Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it! And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful." — Surah Al-Hujurat (49:12) 📌 This verse likens backbiting to eating the flesh of your dead brother — showing how disgusting and harmful it is in Allah’s sight. 🔹 Hadith on Backbiting: 1. Definition by the Prophet ﷺ: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you know what backbiting is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "It is to mention about your brother something he dislikes." Someone asked, "What if what I said about him is true?" He replied, "If what you said is true, then you have backbitten him. If it is not true, you have slandered him." — Sahih Muslim 🔹 Consequences of Backbiting: It destroys good deeds like fire burns dry wood. It harms relationships and breaks trust. It causes divisions among Muslims. 🔹 What to Do Instead: Guard your tongue. Speak good or remain silent (as taught in Hadith). Make dua for the person instead of speaking ill. Seek forgiveness if you’ve wronged someone. 🔹 Dua for Protection from Backbiting: "اللهم احفظ لساني من الغيبة والنميمة، واملأ قلبي حباً للمسلمين."
