I read Marriage Portrait and found it just mid. Not a waste of time but nothing spectacular. If you do read it - I’d be interested in your thoughts comparing it to Hamnet. My vote is for Actress - based on nothing but vibes.

Read Dallergut last month. It felt like it needed better feedback during editing? Some parts of the story weren't developed enough, others seemed pointless but were heavily focused on. Struggled with the point/plot. It felt like it had great potential but was missing something.

I will read anything Maggie O’Farrell writes forever and always. Hamnet and This Must Be the Place are my favorites, but I loved The Marriage Portrait.

I loved Hamnet so much that I always buy anything by Maggie O’Farrell when I see them in the wild! The Marriage Portrait has been sat looking at me for a while - the cover is gorgeous- I need to get to it soon 😅

I would absolutely be reading the first one!!! The premise looks so interesting. It reminds me a little of A magical girl retires which I loved the vibes of.

I just finished The Marriage Portrait today! It was ok, definitely not as good as Hamnet. I found this one a bit long and wordy in places but I did like the story.
