Let’s talk homeschool again. Lots of mamas jumping on the homeschool train. Here’s some tips. 1. IT’S NORMAL. I don’t know who needs to hear this but it’s normal. It’s normal to be overwhelmed. It’s normal to have days you want to quit. It’s normal to question your decision and feel like a failure at times. It’s normal to have a child or two that are more difficult to teach or that clash with you. You’re not flawed or incapable…just normal. 2. There’s tons of curriculum to choose from! It’s quite overwhelming. I’ve used around 8 different ones over the years. I homeschool 9 children right now so I’ve stuck with gather round homeschool and IXL math. It allows me to teach them all together and gives great family time and learning. Keep it simple! Less is more. I know it’s tempting to go buy all the materials but then it can become so overwhelming you get stuck doing nothing because you don’t even know where to start. 3. Learning is life. Include your life. Life skills are the greatest things we can teach our children and in doing so we’re homeschooling all the time. 4. You were created for this! You are good enough to teach them. Parenting is teaching. We were gifted this role. You taught them to walk, talk, eat, potty, get dressed, tie shoes and so much more. You don’t have to be certified or a genius. There’s so many resources if you get stumped. 5. The joy of homeschool is flexibility. Having a hard day? Take a pause and be together. Do something fun. Make memories. The best part for me is that I will never miss out on enjoying my children. I get to be with them in their childhood. I get to watch them grow and feed their interests. Trust me when I say you’ll blink and they’re almost out the house. I want no regrets and no time lost. 6. Remember your why. It’s ultimate freedom. Freedom to show them truth. Freedom to raise your kids the way you are called to raise them. Freedom to be their influence. Freedom to live life on your terms. Freedom from bullies, school shootings, indoctrination, negative influences, awakening love before it’s time and so much more. You got this!
