Good. The only people having an issue with this are children.

I mean it is a bit odd putting your id on the internet and your face. I get that side of it but still discord is full of groomers. And mostly it is gooners and kids whining about it

The internet should never require an ID, a face scan or anything of the sort. Privacy and safety is more important than all the other non existent issues.

if it was really about protecting kids they would have introduced a law that had parents install parental controls on children's devices.

A government yet again using "Think of the CHILDREN!" as the pretense to push even more control and authoritarian laws.
And people will eat it up until it's too late and You're required to have a digital ID just to go online and do simple stuff like buy things

I think people aren't seeing the real issue here. The intent is good but the method is a cyber security nightmare. The government or company don't process your face or id. it's sent to an external party which is often oversees

Im glad they added it, now you can’t view explicit images without verifying your age. They should improve the age verification system more though. It’s not that hard to bypass it sadly. Very pleased that they’re taking such steps to prevent kids getting exposed to 🌽 or worse. 🤗

This is literally the same as Collective Shout and what they’re doing. At first they start targeting nsfw games/media and then they’ll slowly start trying to censor anything they don’t like

What I’m really concerned about is how secure our data and personal information will be, especially if the verification is all through 3rd party clients (all of whom I’m sure made a very generous donation to the politicians that pushed this law) the government having all our private info is bad enough (for what they might do with it and also how secure it is), but for what these 3rd party clients might do with it, god help us all

Reading through these comments make me realise just how pointless it is to try and talk to people who don't have an issue with this kind of thing. I don't think I've ever been more ashamed to be part of Gen Z.
