Yes correct call. The moment the runner puts his arms up to brace the impact the intent plow the catcher was shown. It’s a safety issue and the umpire made the correct call. He did not attempt to slide or avoid contact and the catcher had the ball. That left fielder showed off a cannon of a throw.

all these people who don’t know the slide or surrender rule is hilarious, catcher had the ball nearly 4 steps before the batter got to the plate, the slide was late and malicious and dude got laid out 🤷

Dude wasn’t trying to slide, he was trying to knock the ball loose. Catcher held on. Hes out. Wouldn’t throw him out the game though

Correct call. Catcher had the ball in time to block the plate, runner didn’t try to avoid he initiated the contact. Runner was “sliding” into the top of home plate…

It's a very simple call. Yes, there was obstruction, but interference supersedes obstruction, and when the runner comes in standing up and lowers his shoulder to dislodge the ball. He's out and ejected for malicious contact if the umpire deems it so and apparently he did.
