Idk it's wild to see everyone thinking the most unrealistic part is Conrad still being hung up on Belly after 4 years like that's the most Conrad thing, i get him cause it happens 😞 specially in their dynamic (friends since they were born and dated after a long crush). To me the most unrealistic thing is Belly and Jeremiah lasting that long, and the fact that Belly did nothing in collage other than babying Jeremiah?!?!

The issue is the time jump just made everything so much worse. For lack of a better word Conrad seems pathetic for not moving on from his brother’s girlfriend for 4 years. In the books he had a fling with Agnes but he didn’t love her so they fizzled out— also him not going to his mothers dedication because of belly seems so absurd considering, he saw her at the beach house and their interactions were fine.Jere and Belly had no character development, in the books it felt natural because they’re literally 18-19 but as 21-22 year olds their actions can’t even be excused. Belly hasn’t made any other substantial friendships besides Annika. Jere being a super senior who doesn’t read his emails despite the fact that in season 2 he literally took responsibility for Susannah’s medical bills and for Conrads exams seems like character assassination. Every single character is unlikeable; even steven and Taylor, like they obviously don’t belong together why keep this thing going and why is her mom getting so much screen time. I could literally go on but so far the show is losing me and a lot of people would agree.

Literally I feel like a 19 year old incoming college sophomore in a 2yr long relationship vs a 21 year old incoming college senior a 4year relationship getting engaged is very different. I feel like their reactions would’ve made more sense if they kept it the same. but also understandable because jeres obviously finically and emotionally immature and is going to be a 3rd semester senior so it was also valid for that.

they shoulda made agnes and conrad a couple who for some reason are in cousins and say he genuinely hasn’t seen/talked to belly in 4 years. when they see each other for the first time it’s like this big moment of “I’m with the wrong person” and built the season around them coming to that realization. kinda like a different spin on forced proximity since they’re all tg for the summer.
