@mathmanx: It’s that time of year when the audacity is out in full force. I was so lucky to have kind and sympathetic co-workers to keep my spirits up, but that was an awful year. The attitudes of parents ALWAYS trickle into the kids. If YOU don’t respect education and educators, neither will they. And they’ll never be able to truly learn that way. #skit #pov #story #storytime #teacher

I can't believe we're having this convo for another reason. Parents shouldn't have to provide school supplies. Schools should be fully funded to provide everything AND pay teachers properly.

that makes me so angry. I always tell my kids teachers if they need anything I don't care what it is, ask me I'll do my best to get it!

i hate when people get low paying jobs, then complain about not having money. you put urself in that situation, stop blaming other people for not wanting to spend their own money on something that will be used by 15+ people

I always bought everything on the supply list for each of my kids as well as the communal items every year! I can’t believe people are so rude to not support their own children let alone the teacher! 😳

I don’t get it. My family was poor and was still able to make sure my brothers and I had what we needed for school. Why do parents think the school or the teacher can affordsupply these things? I just don’t understand that frame of mind. These people are delusional.

I know teachers don’t want their students to go without, but if the parents who are able to buy don’t care, why would an underpaid teacher take on this?? 🥹

It's ridiculous how much parents have to supply everything for classroom- even down to tissues. Uk all provided except at high school, then it's only item for own child. That's basic supplies pens, pencils, calculator

This is crazy, I by no means have much money, but when it comes to my daughters school I am always sending things in. Even during the year, an I used to be confused why the teachers used to tell me how awesome I am because I thought it was normal, Until one of my daughters teachers told me what things were really like. This is so sad, im so grateful for all my daughters teachers and aides she would be on the honor roll without them. Teachers are the best ❤️❤️❤️

In our school district our administrators have exceptionally high salaries—they seriously outpace those of our parents. I am not discounting the need for parents to help out, but I would like to see some parity come from administration.

I have a local kindergarten teacher who I've tried to help for the last 3 years. She won't let me buy supplies. But I buy gloves for the children. I send in 100 pair of black gloves that way. If a child loses one, they have a matching set, and nobody knows that they're free. I've done it before, and this year, we're trying to raise two hundred dollars so we could sit in two hundred pairs

I don’t have kids but I “adopt” a grade each year when the school lists come out at Walmart. I don’t completely cheap out but I hit up all the dollar stores and try to get as much as i can on my budget. Most of the teachers at setting up a week or so before classes start so I just drop by the office with that grade list attached. The school isn’t locked down that early so i can be anonymous

The sad reality of most teachers, I’ve seen this happen way more that what most people expect and it’s absurd how parents don’t care about supplies and expect teachers to get them
