“Uraraka saved Toga cause she was in love with her!!” Uraraka didn’t save Toga cause she’s in love with her, that removes the point of that scene which was that Uraraka would do that for anyone in need. Changing her motivation to romance destroys her character. Uraraka would do that for anyone in need. Uraraka has a whole speech explaining what kind of person she is and who she strives to be. That scene is also reminiscent of Toga being a normal teenage girl that talks about her crush with her best friend- something she was never able to do because of her upbringing. Uraraka calls Toga’s smile beautiful because it was that smile that made her realize villains aren’t just evil and they have a human side to them. Uraraka pushed her feelings for Izuku down for the entire series so when Toga openly proclaimed her love, something she had been yearning to do for so long, it made her realize the kind of person she wanted to be. Toga is a perfect character foil for Uraraka, but she is not a love interest. Simplifying their connection and motivation to romance destroys the intention of the author and the characters growth/development.

Stan Lee himself has stated MULTIPLE TIMES that it is a metaphor for racism/discrimination. after the book of bill dropped, we got a new wave of children who thought that his confirmed backstory meant he isnt truly evil at heart. just because he wasnt born a monster doesnt mean he cant turn into one later. if anything, the book makes it clear that instead of being born this way, he ACTIVELY leaned into the villain role and disregarded other peoples lives, suffering and planets/dimensions despite witnessing how horrific it is to lose your own dimension. even though hed experienced it himself, he wound up the type of person to enjoy inflicting that pain onto other people. it WASNT originally in his nature to be that way, which is what makes him even more despicable. even if the theraprism makes the right call and manages to rehabilitate him, it wouldnt change the fact that in the duration of the show, book, and most of his past, he was in fact pure evil. the book also demonstrates that despite his defeat in the finale, he didnt learn a thing or listen to what stan told him before his death since he still actively wants the pine twins to die by his hand.
