@morgaanfoley: I think it’s crazy how many Irish Americans came out of the wood works to talk about the Irish vampire in Sinners (basically just to talk over Black people) but can’t come out and condem the same settler colonialism that tortured (and continues to torture) Ireland and all Irish descendants. #irishamerican
PSA though, be careful, the Esther project is watching 👀

Irish/German American here...100% agree.....but I also only know that the "famine" wasnt a famine because I started listening to Flogging Molly in my teens and started doing research into what actually happened. The rest of my overly MAGA family think it was a famine still even when presented facts and proof 🤷♀️.

Mo Chara from Kneecap said it accurately when he said "The Irish not so long ago were persecuted at the hands of the Brits, but we were never bombed from the... skies with nowhere to go.
"The Palestinians have nowhere to go."

As Bernadette Devlin said in 1969, “There is nothing sadder to people struggling against oppression in Ireland than to see our own people being used to oppress Black people.” And since the black struggle in the US is parallel to the Palestinain struggle for liberation, we can apply the same sentiment here. Our people are being used to oppress others after we have struggled against oppression for years. Those who uphold the systems we fight against will never be remembered for they do not lay with other Fenians who fought for liberation and lay under the foggy dew. Only Irish and Irish-American alike can claim Irishry if they’re committed to the same anti-colonialism that has been the glory of our past and our ancestors.

Also LandBack. We are the settlers here on Turtle Island no matter the reason we ended up here and have an obligation to honour the Treaties and work towards Truth and Reconciliation. We can change our part in the colonial system here. No one is free until all are free. ❤️🩹

Yep, 3rd generation Irish American here. I think part of the problem is our ancestors dealt with the trauma through silence, so that history has been sanitized for us. It was too painful for them, but it’s our responsibility to bear witness to it and see ourselves in Gaza!
