Probably had several in case one goes dry. Depending of it’s an RAS system that reuse the water, or a flow through system, the need for water on a flow through system is high, and fish can die fast if water stops. Have seen simalar to this on land based fish farms in Norway a lot.

Shhhh be careful... here in California at least, wells are controlled by the county permit dept and they have to be within a certain distance from your home and outside a certain distance away from your septic and leach lines and backup leach field, and the requirements often change, so some wells may have been decommissioned on purpose.
