I worked there for 17 years, under Fritz Maytag’s leadership. It was most definitely a destination - on the first of each month, we’d open the tours for the following month and within an hour of the phones going on at 9:00 a.m., every slot would be taken (30 people/tour, 10 tours/week). I know that the Chobani guy hired back some of the old staff and they’re currently working on restorations. 👍🏼

I spoke with Andrea DeVries (Anchor legend) a few months ago and indeed they're planning on replacing pretty much all the equipment, as well as doing some construction at the garden :o

They repainted the Anchor Taproom building and cleaned up the space over 9 months ago, then nothing 🤷♂️

Or the longer they sit on the sidelines the greater the chance that people will forget their association/fondness for the Anchor brand. This was one of the first craft beers I had back in the 80's and until I saw this Anchor had not crossed my mind since they closed

Last time I visited anchor brewery was 2021ish after getting a flight & taking a seat it didn’t feel like It had much of a direction almost felt like I was inside fort point. Targeting mid 20s-30s group would be a success especially with the mini golf & Ghirardelli next door

I hope you’re right. The brewery tour was one of the best. Anchor Public Taps was definitely my go to taproom. It helped me and my friends get through the pandemic, we’d order ahead, pick up brews at the taproom, and enjoy outdoors with our Covid pod of friends. I hope they reopen! Cheers! 🍻

We toured in ‘17, and IIRC they were about to open a taproom/brewpub across the street. I wonder if that’s still part of the package.

I think one of the best moves Mr. Chobani could do is give up the “Steam beer” trademark in the mean time. Let other breweries making CA commons call it steam beer and revive the style. Also agree with everything else you said
