@kaylanatalie_: Replying to @Tara just because it worked for you, the science recommends against pushing on your back. #laboranddelivery #birthtok #doula
Everything you said is so important for people to know! Shoulder distocia can also be solved by the runners pose. Love my midwifery books! You won't catch me on my back unless runners didn't solve sd. 💞

Survivors bias has been killing me as I study and prepare for going into labor. I'm surprised at how many people think everyone should be the same as them. We learn from acknowledging that there can be multiple outcomes.

My OB says that with an epidural, you lose a lot of feeling/support in legs and that is why they won’t allow most positions other than laying on back or sides

I pushed laying on my back too and it did go kinda well even if I tore, but that wasn't my plan originally. My baby started crowning very quickly after two whole days of induction and I was panicking. So when they told me to get on the bed (ready for any intervention if needed) I did.
I'm actually kinda sad I didn't get the birth I envisioned since I did a lot of research on natural birth, the best positions to push, how to manage pain etc, but at least we're both fine

Just tell people to look up that video of the woman who is standing and she has no clothes on, and during the point in time, it shows her spine curve and come out from her body. She’s an active labor
