I genuinely just “play along” with the emperor as Jahiera says to keep his guard down until we gain an edge where he doesn’t have all the cards (Orphic Hammer). I pretty much stop playing along with his antics right after killing Raphael.

The worst part is that I fell for it. I never disagreed with him during my first playthrough (because the absolute is bad and squidward is against the absolute). . But during my second playthrough as soon as I started to disgree with him (also talking to ansur) I realised he was not a good person and was just as bad as the villains we defeat in the game.

i feel like in some scenes youre actually talking to him/his past personality and in others hes just another mind flayer, when you become a mind flayer you literally have to make rolls to not eat your companions so we know you slowly lose yourself, i really feel like he does his best its just that hes almost fully lost his soul and any control over himself

so idk if i missed something but in my first playthrou, i fought alongside him the whole way, defeated the brain, necame a mindflayer myself and then at the end there were hints of the two of us travelling the world together in search for knowledge or sum like that. so yea. i never thought he was supposed to be a bad character until i saw it online in the comments

The emperor is Balduren the Dude who the the city is named after The ADVENTURER the man accepted his fate broke out of a hive mind twice! Grabs us up makes us his peons yes! But as soon as we win he leaves us to our own devices after we grind up to max level. Just a jerk DM is all
