Here is a clip of Finbar Furey performing his tune “The Lonesome Boatman” in Glasgow, Scotland in 2010. The Lonesome Boatman is an instrumental piece written by Furey in the 1960s, when he was just 19 years old. It was first recorded in 1969 on the album of the same name, and the piece quickly became a standout in Irish traditional music. He originally rose to fame in the 1970s as a founding member of The Fureys, performing with his brothers when he achieved his initial success. Later, Furey chose to leave the band, pursuing his solo career where he blended traditional and contemporary musical styles.
