In ancient Greece, religion wasn't separate from culture, language, or identity — it was deeply woven into Greek customs (nomoi), myths, festivals, and public life.To practice Hellenic religion "properly," one needed to understand Greek rituals, myths, language, and social norms. Meaning that if you weren’t Greek you couldn’t be Hellenistic pagan. Also, teh reason we don’t have temples is because people don’t believe in those pagan gods anymore. Many of the “pagans” we have in today’s TikTok largely came from other religions and converted cuz their older religion was boring and wante dit be “special” meaning that “paganism” (also called neo-paganism) was spread by social media, not faith or doctrine. (There is litteraly WitchTok, PaganTok etc…) also, Social media thrives on aesthetics—and modern paganism is often rich in symbols, altars, candles, crystals, tarot cards, nature scenes, etc… meaning that people “converted” to aesthetically appeals them not for faith or similar. In summery: No you aren’t pagan as you don’t fit into the customs and most likely would be seen as a barbarian/outsider in the ancient world. There are no temples cuz no one truly believes in them anymore. That’s it thanks for listening!

Sadly, it is almost impossible to rebuild old temples because of today's infrastructure. Also, where a place of worship were once were, a building of a new religion was placed on top of the old religion. I would love for old religion to thrive, but in this sick world. I fear it wouldn't thrive at all in the infrastructure

if a Christian country is invaded by lets say an extreme Muslim country (I'm making this example cause I'm Greek and that's what people are talking about here, so that's what first came to mind) and the churches are destroyed, it will suddenly be a crime against humanity, while we (I am a Christian) destroyed so so much throughout history. God(s) don't care about riches and buildings built in Their name. They care about the people. We NEED to get it together. I'm so sorry my ancestors destroyed your safe spaces and the ones you could easily practice your faith in. I hope we do better in the future ❤️

i wish i could say the same about slavic paganism, but sadly all cult centers were destroyed, mythology is mostly lost because we did not have writing and the only sources we have are christian scriptures that demonised every single one of them or attributed their characteristics to saints. we were left with not even ruins.

If we repair our statues then we will not be reminded of what heinous acts Christianity has done in the past. If we rebuild our temples, the likelihood of them being vandalized is only increased, not to mention Greece has already tried repairing the Parthenon but it was too much of a risk due to its fragility. What we rlly gotta do is make completely new ones.

The ONLY reason Christianity is the most popular religion is because of them forcing people of other religions, especially natives, to convert to Christianity. They also forced native american children to learn Christianity in schools and abandon their culture. They burned down and destroyed anything that wasn’t Christian, the only CHOICE for some people to survive was to convert. Its so disgusting if you start researching deep into it.
