There’s a group that collects data on CSA cases in an attempt to contextualize it by the numbers. When there is political affiliation available for perpetrators they are 80% conservative. That’s every CSA case they can find for the last several years. The data is SUPER clear and shockingly one sided.

They don’t really view teenagers as off limits. To them as long as puberty has started they’re fair game. It’s why every time a state tries to raise the age of consent, it’s always the GOP who fights it.

My fiancé is from the deep south, and under no circumstances would I ever raise a daughter there. It is normal and expected for men to objectify and abuse children, and the rigid expectation of girls and women of all ages to submit is horrifying.

In ex-evangelical spaces, we often talk about how purity culture=rape culture, because it objectifies women's bodies and lives and incentivises hiding abuse. That's what's playing out with conservatives and sexual abuse.

Hastert's conviction was for the hush money he was paying, not the CSA itself. he admitted to the CSA in court and the judge want to lock him away for life, but for the actual crime he committed he got 13 months. He was released in like 2017.
