@jessiecole007: I had a case where a teacher was out on extended leave and a substitute was thoroughly documenting only one child’s behavior in the classroom on various spreadsheets, sending multiple messages a day to the guardian of the child regarding their behavior. Together they made this child’s life hell by communicating about every single thing they did wrong and ensuring they were punished at home and at school for these things in various ways. Thankfully, when it was brought to the attention of the school, staff serious measures were taken to prevent further access to the child. You just don’t know anything from face value #DCS #CPS #Foster #SocialWork #Boundaries #CaseManagers #Discipline #Parenting #Teaching #Teachers #DoBetter
in middle school I had teachers that bragged about never giving A+s, only A's for "fairness". I was pretty much grounded for the entirety of 8th grade because of teachers that didn't give A+ with no care how this affects children of narcissistic people.

My mother taught us no personal hygiene. Her house was filthy and piles of dishes everywhere meanwhile she sat at home for years doing nothing. She tried controlling how many showers we had, rewearing clothes, not doing laundry as punishment. Most people take a proper parents for granted.

My husband confided in a teacher about his father’s abuse and the teacher called his dad to tell him what my husband said. He never tried to reach out for help again and I still cannot fathom why she would do that

THANK YOU! The teachers who I’ve heard snicker about how kids are going to “get it” when they tell their parents about behavior is SICKENING

Naw I’m good! We r not counselors or social workers. We barely have time in the day to make these phone calls. Yes it is sad it happens, but reporting to a parent about their behavior is within our job description! The rest of it isn’t. And for behavior analysis to occur there has to be 6 weeks of the behavior…i am not reporting to the parent for 6 weeks and then springing a behavioral referral on them

I see both sides. As a mom, I want to know if my kids are acting up. I can’t help them learn the skills they need to succeed if I think everything is okay. That said we are a safe home and teach not punish.

Schools don’t care about abusive parents. Individual teachers might, but their leadership is focused on appearances and stats.

This just tore my heart open. I am sooooo cautious what I share with parents without first assessing the behaviors. But, it’s a fine line. Bc it’s also so incredibly important to keep open communication bc many times families need to know and can support at home as wel (by seeking counseling, addressing sibling bullying, etc.)

Is what it is. Life is never said. Glazing someone’s behaviour does them no favours in the long run

And as a teacher if you know a child is being hit like that you need to report it that’s not discipline that’s abuse

My child is autistic and his teachers ripped him apart last year notes front and back about all the things that happened with time stamps . I copied every note and turned it into the AP and expressed my disappointment with his teachers and let them know how I really felt about his teachers .Some kids just need guidance not to be picked apart for just being a kid

Right! Like some of these teachers get too excited about parents abusing their kids and it’s weird! A lot of the time kids acting out are being hit at home ,yet teachers will blindly assume it’s the parents spoiling them so they tell the parents to be harder on them which just leads to kids getting hit more
