It’s called a “ Squall line” storm. They are fairly common on Long Island on the beach. I grew up on Long Island.

This is Brighton Beach and I was in there and I’m fine going home safely on my experiences and so tell you it’s not good to hurt you. A lot of people flew. It was crazy all I was hearing people screaming and it was insane.

Saw this happen in Coney Island in 2019. I have a pic of my ex’s hair standing up seconds before a lightning strike. We got out before the other people only because I recognized that hair up = Lightning
