i just don’t understand why you as a white woman continue to want to put your input into this if you admit you don’t have the background or full picture. you could literally just stop talking about it. no one is looking to you for your takes on this

Darren Criss didn't make this decision you know. His own dreams for the show to become bigger and beyond an asian cast in the future doesn't change the fact he has been extremely vocal about how the show is important for asian representation. Your shading is absolutely not necessary. Maybe take it to the producers and creators who imposed that casting.

Both Hue Park and Darren Criss have said the role doesn’t have to be Asian. If they never cast an Asian again it would be a problem but this is one single short stint! People need to breathe.

Respectfully, and with the utmost politeness, I do think maybe you should not have posted the original video as quickly because things like the Asian vs AsAm and "white passing" experience is well known in the AsAm community and you might have come across more Asian creators voices with that lived experience before posting. Which isn't to say you shouldn't post. I remember reading Darren's R&J quote and being disappointed and also taking it as a hint that this would happen, but I didn't realize it would happen this soon.

It’s hard when he says “dare to have a non-white cast” when apparently the most daring thing is to keep the cast AAPI

This is worse than great comet since 1 the role being the first Asian person to win lead actor in a musical 2 they marketed on being an (almost) all Asian cast 3 having a white person impacts the James/oliver/junseo dynamic w Oliver being thought of as the perfect son

some of the points here are the reason why on the live yesterday I was essentially saying while there was a chance you're benefit of the doubt was true and the timing and situation was unfortunate I never put anything past people

If MHE goes downhill due to controversy over robot's ethnicity, despite creator's view, it'll cost more than one Asian role, impacting many.

I think it’s so kind of you to add further nuance. I wish there actually was a conversation or discussion happening in comments but I’m disappointed with most people I see who refuse to discuss the nuance.

Please never stop yelling at the social pages tho. You’re not really yelling at the SMM. We give producers comment/ social updates every week. Trust if we have to read it the producers do too.

are the average $$$ weeks Darren was out an indication of where producers heads were?

People are saying to you that Darren Criss is not the one who pushed this decision, what is this sudden obsession with you in blaming him. It's getting weird. The creators themselves wanted Andrew. You basically saying he doesn't really ackowledge the importance of asian representation and casting on broadway when he has been specifically saying that for months now in many interviews is WILD! He litteraly said that he hopes the show continues to have that AAPI legacy and be an inspiring call to action. His own personal vision of the show has been also more open and universal since he said he also dares to dream that at some point the casting could be non-asian but let's undermine what he said about the show being a vehicule for more asian representation.

you are discussing Hue Park and actual korean bc it doesnt get in your standards of diversity? it's more racist do that than "a white man replaced a half asian man in a lead role".
