I'm trying. I go to queer spaces. I'm on the online dating apps. Yes, I'm on the spicy apps. Maybe it's more my social anxiety than my looks that's holding me back, but I dated a lot more before I gained my pandemic weight, and I was socially anxious then too. People don't approach me. They usually don't match with me. They avert their gaze when I try to make eye contact. At some point, if I'm going to believe I'm desirable, I'm gonna need some proof of concept.

I have seen what you talk about a lot but never understood the appeal to the 1% the majority think are the gold standard. We each like what we like but it seems like folks mold their beliefs to fit inside the socially acceptable idea of who is attractive. As a community I think we need to uplift each other. I never pass up the opportunity of telling someone they are attractive.
