I am so sick of reading the comments saying landlords deseve nothing, are morally wrong, and shouldn't take the risk to rent. With that type of mentality, no one would ever rent their properties. So those who can't afford to purchase or just don't want to, would have nothing. I do agree lots of landlords are sleazes and shouldn't be renting, but landlords are a necessity. I'm all for the protection of good tenants. But this is a 2 sided thing. Maybe instead of complaining that they are hoarding property and that all landlords should go to hell, how about we fight to have a limit on the amount of rental units 1 person/company can own? That would lower the amount of landlords purchasing houses. Blaming everyone is also blaming the good ones.

Landlords need protection too. They should be able to remove a tenant after 3 months for none payment. Will Mayor Chow support that? Given her housing history probably not

As a former landlord, I see both sides, but I would not want to be a tenant nor a landlord in today’s world, do what you can to buy yourself a little property anywhere and set some roots for yourself.

if I were a landlord I would no longer get want to rent any units. I would sell the rental property. when thousands do this, there will be more homelessness. these measures aren't sustainable for landlords to rent, landlords aren't charities.

Being a landlord is not a means of income or a job. It is not meant to be a job or a means of supporting yourself. The RTA wouldn't need to exist if Landlords actually followed to rules. The LTB would not need to function if Landlords were fair to their tenants. Using a renovation to kick someone out of their unit and then never renovating the unit and re renting it at a higher price point because you're greedy af is not right. So good on Olivia Chow. Now let's get our rent control back.

I really hope all the comments complaining & saying is it bad for landlords are bots because if you can't afford your investment, you should sell it and cut your losses. We live in a country with 4 seasons, housing should be a RIGHT, not a way to make a profit.
