Aww I love this! When I told ppl about my diagnosis I got gaslit and dismissed. “But you’re pretty” “but you’re smart” as if you cannot be either of those w a diagnosis. Apparently if you look fine then you MUST be healthy bc nothing looks “wrong” or “off” 🙄

Indigenous Americans also have references to people with autism. ncluding those associated with autism, to spiritual connections or unique gifts. Individuals might be seen as having a special role within the community or possessing unique talents.

I do agree, apart from one thing. I don’t use the term ‘neurodivergent’. It’s a term that’s actually quite derogatory when you think about it. Neurodiverse is much better and emphasises more what you’re trying to say.

y'all need to know that native American culture and southe american indigenous culture says disabled and neuro divergent people are protected by the gods and are here to accomplish important things. the only reason any disability or neurodiversity is seen as a handicap is because of the white, male-centered colonisers.

It's my favourite interpretation of us, but I feel compelled to add: Māori is pronounced sort of like "Mow-ree". Long "ah" sound for the ā, short "o" (not oh) sound for the o. the r is a short/single rolled r, like in the Spanish word "pero".

i have adhd too and that sounds like the most apt description. it's what the pathologised phenomenon of "time blindness" feels like to me and i believe it's because we are energetically aligned to the truth that time is non-linear
