@miguellucafa: no deep analysis this time but it's still noteworthy when a show has such a density of storytelling that you can make connections like these #greenscreen #frierenbeyondjourneysend #frieren #netflix

her fight with Aura shows frieren has toned it tf down, she tells frieren her surprise that she's no longer using large flashy spells meaning she use to use them all the time. My theory is the reason "modern" mages all use these types of spells is because they are mimicking the great mage of the heros party's fighting style

Something I found intriguing and that I haven’t seen anyone talk about is, right at the beginning of the fight both frieren and her clone expected each other to attack first, so they both cast defensive magic in preparation before either of them attacks.

My theory for the force push like thing is that its a curse or ancient magic that modern msges cant comprehend

But can we talk about the spell the clone hit fern with. Fern said she didnt sense any mana and does recognize it as magic. after frieren said she had had to use that in 80 years

and one thing that people don't point out is when Denken is trying to save that forgettable girl trapped in the room of spikes, one of his most powerful attacks has absolutely no effect on the wall when he tries to break it. I mean it doesn't even scratch it yet when fighting her clone, all of frierens spells literally melt the rock around her and reduce it to gas that just shows the absolute raw power difference between frieren and Denken [the 2nd strongest mage during the exams] and I believe that frieren might be the only mage that has never said she's out of mana in the whole series, everyone else has said it but never her

that dimension spell was cast by the real Frieren. she cast something big and flashy that left her open so the clone. The clone shattered the spell before it could be fully cast and then attacked Frieren with her own big attack, creating the opening for fern to strike.

Wait just a goddamned second, considsring what you said, and if one assumes: this whole fight with her clone was basically just Frieren experimenting with spells she has used in the past and spells she have JUST seen? Cuz if so, it makes so much more sense now why she values each and every grimoire she gets. Is it not because it's her 'silly little hobby', but instead, her learning spells so that she can turn them into her own, making it better or applying it in ways not a lot of people would've thought of????????? Maybe that's why Serie called her a mage for a time of peace not because she's strong, but because with peace comes prosperity, ingenuity, invention. Maybe it's why Serie hates her because war is the opposition to what Frieren stands for, and it's what Serie wants

i know this has nothing to with the topic in the video but would there be a spell that can create rain in an area? because if there was a water mage would be overpowered because i heard water mages are pretty much Monster when fighting some near water

some people have rightfully noticed me not commenting on the "force push" used against Fern at the end of the fight. very cool moment precisely because there is no explanation I can muster up for it, aside from it being incomprehensible within the rules of human magic (not dissimilar to a demon's curse). I've not read the manga but I'm led to believe it is not explained there either.

My favorite part of this is when they both start with defensive magic constantly moving to predict the attack of the other because it shows both that she can predict where attacks will strike as well as knows when an attack will be blocked and not to even try to attack

Frieren Analysis? Count me in🤞🏽. I wonder if we've seen the upper limit of what she can do from her fight with the clone. Avoiding manga spoilers so I can't wait to find out 😤

The reason she used the offensive to block offensive is because it takes less mana than the normal defensive magic which is really interesting

I think it also shows a glimpse of how they used to counter spells back when defensive magic wasn’t as big just use another attack spell to deflect another attack spell

the golem she made is IDENTICAL to the little dancing golem she used to entertain the party of heroes, (other than being a giant version and having a magic reflection and amplification feature attached). It's really nothing like the escape golems.

I love the magic in this scene because it really gives you the sense that magic is literally warping the fabric of reality, where as the more modern mages are essentially just manipulating already existing matter. There’s just something about frierens spellcraft that gives off cosmic horror

Freiren Clone's last spell is a Restraining Spell that she casts with her feet. This implies that although it may have drawbacks, it is 100% plausible to cast from any limb. There are no others shown so far that have this capability; except for possibly one person. In the traditional composition of a DnD group, one would have a Warrior, a Cleric, one or two Mages, and the next popular class to arise would be Monk. Considering the slight variations on the traditional team comp that Freiren mimics (Warriors are the same, Clerics = Priests, Wizard/Sorc = Mage, etc), I believe that the Caster that Freiren learned this folk technique from could potentially be Kraft; hear me out. Kraft was once known to be a Hero that saved the World, and is also now a Monk - an Elvish Monk at that. One with a great propensity for Healing Magic and physical ability. I believe that Kraft's claim to fame as a Hero was to be the World's Greatest Multicaster, delivering short range spells in a Combat-style to vanquish his enemies. Certainly his unique ability to continue combat even when knocked prone would be the physical equivalent to Suppressing Mana; a complete and utter surprise to Demonkind. But I'm just theorycrafting, I haven't read the manga either. Just having fun :)

what about the fact that frieren all but confirms the true nature of magic as a direct manifestation of will by pinning fern to a wall with huge force without casting anything

idk how plausible this is but frierens final "manaless" spell could be gravity of sorts since the sigil is on the ground, granted it could be her legs using magic referencing the other comment, and using gravity as a force to push/pull fern could avoid the mana detection

honestly this scene was just "random bullshit go" kind of writing, but its nice to finally get a peak at her actual combat capacity. the most intriguing part was of course ancient magic that Fern commented on as "doesn't even feel like magic"
