I was looking into the parasite bit a few weeks ago. The only real thing separating a fetus from a parasite is that parasites are a different species than the host. Otherwise pretty much identical as per the definition.

And this is the rarest scenario. The most common scenario is the placenta tries to firm inside to uterine tubes or on the ovary and will eventually rupture, causing severe internal bleeding and possible death without prompt medical intervention.

This is one of the most compelling arguments for legal abortion to me. Not even having a hysterectomy (if the ovaries remain) is 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy.

fetus doesn’t act like a parasite. It’s a neutral relationship, because fetus gave give fetal cell to the mother, which can benefit the immune system, and help damage tissue. Parasites usually try to harm their host, not give them benefits, and the the human body does try to annihilate, or reject parasite, and the immune system placed in a certain role in it. Ectopic pregnancies are typically treated with either medication or surgery. Surgical options usually involve laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) but may require laparotomy (open surgery) in some cases. Expectant management, which involves close monitoring without immediate intervention, is another option if the ectopic pregnancy is not causing symptoms and is deemed likely to resolve on its own

I had several ectopics but the shock was when I went in for extensive endometriosis excision and my specialist said they’d unexpectedly found, &removed, “recently deceased foetal tissue” from my abdominal cavity. He had photos. It explains why I had several experiences where I was showing symptoms of pregnancy but had nothing in my uterus. My body isn’t good at babies.

Male pregnancy is highly unlikely to ever be possible, because the entire female body is evolved to support pregnancy, at a cellular level, it creates the enviroment to support the fetus, and to adapt the adult body to survive the term. It’s deeply complex and symbiotic process, which you can’t artificially replicate, crude hormone injections can’t replace that. Even if you could reach term, you would have a damaged child, and an adult whose body won’t know how to repair. Deeply unethical.
