on one hand he might find comfort in someone sharing the things they shared together, because a partner dying is a lot different grief-wise to just splitting up. not saying its okay for him to try to mold you into someone you are not, but he definitely needs help for his grief if he doesn't have a therapist or something already. i also don't know how long ago this was or if you are still together, but if you are, i'd reccomend taking some time away at the very least. grief is complex but its also on the grieving party to find a support system while they work through it, and its entirely unfair to drag someone into it (because grief IS messy whether you like it or not).
