How many pillows are you rolling with when side sleeping? If you have pain somewhere while sleeping, it is worth exploring using some more pillows/bolsters. Sometimes changing the thickness of your pillows is all you need. For side sleeping, you may find that a thicker pillow under the head is helpful. Katie and I transition between side and stomach sleeping with the 3 pillows each. I’ve always had a hug pillow since I was a kid, however the leg pillow was not always a part of my life. When I had my disc herniation in 2013, it forced me to find different ways to sleep - because sleeping was impossible. The doc told me to sleep with the knee bent to help reduce the sciatic pain and, without a bolster, that hurt. So, incorporating a knee pillow helped to reduce my pain while sleeping. After sleeping that way for 2 years while my pain slowly dissipated, I just stuck with it. When we hear that people are struggling to sleep because of pain, having them incorporate some leg and/or hug pillows can make a massive difference for them. Eventually, you learn how to move around with the pillows staying with you all night.
