I’m hooked on this release. ✨ There is a huge misunderstanding that nervous system regulation means relaxation. Actually regulating in motion is incredibly healing. I began doing this sequence a few years ago and it is a staple to every visit to the gym.
It is soothing, relaxing, deep and intentional. Leaning away from a cable machine while it pulls you creates a unique balance of controlled effort and letting go. 👉You’re actively pushing through your feet or hands, and you’re also yielding - allowing the weight to pull you. 💡 This mirrors what many nervous systems long for: to be held while staying in control. 👉As the muscles lengthen under load , the nervous system gets the message: “We are strong and safe as we open.” 💡This kind of eccentric engagement allows gripping patterns to unwind without forcing a let-go, which feels safer than passive stretching or cues to “just relax.” 👉The external pull offers containment. Rather than sinking or collapsing - you’re cooperating with force. 💡This physical metaphor — “I can lean, yield, be pulled, and still be safe and powerful” — is incredibly regulating, especially for clients with a history of holding tension to feel secure. 👉The constant, directional tension from the cable offers rich proprioceptive feedback. 💡For many bodies that feel disoriented or dissociated, this input gives a sense of where they are in space, helping them feel more connected, more present, and more whole. From a physical space: The starting part where you are in a squat is incredible for your lower back pain. I usually actually hold the rounded position for a few breaths (not shown.) It is hard to get this type of stretch on other machines or exercises so i just really sink into it. Also not shown is that in the split leg lunge, you can really lean down into a big stretch too. Ultimately, there is SO much creativity, option, variation you can do here, it is phenomenal, relaxing, healing and the cable gives an amazing push, pull. ❤️ Move more with me. Experience healing in motion. For your back, pelvic floor and entire system. Link in bio for my 12-week Restore Your Core® program. Yours for life. #nervoussystemregulation #lowerbackpain #pelvicfloor #RestoreYourCore
