I’m in the crowd that does not want to benefit from that service. I 100% agree if you’re sending your kids to school buy them supplies but I just don’t want to send my kids to public school. Private school, okay, public nope

I’m too middle Eastern for this stinginess. I’ll buy everyone’s supply list if I can and double it. It’s for children and it’s for education. It the least parents can do for teacher that’s literally teaching their kids and if not it comes from the teachers pay.

I guess working in corporate America we have a budget for copy paper, boot vouchers, highliters, pens, etc. notebooks and supplies my son will use yes I understand but why do I need to buy copy paper for the teacher? We are normalizing something that should be paid by the school district by our taxes. Just my opinion.

okay but they should shift this debate to the parents who chose not to buy the kids school supplies not the teachers who are trying their best to make sure every child is included and able to learn with the same materials as his classmate

Parents that don't want to help lack critical thinking skills the teachers know who doesn't get the supplies the kind of impression you make on the teacher can affect how they view and treat your child. Anytime they need something and I can do it I'm doing it. Cuz I want my child and all the other children succeed because why not?!

This!!! As a former educator, this whole conversation is weird. As a parent, I buy extra of everything because I know first hand how hard it is for teachers to teach when everyone doesn’t have the basics to learn!

My problem is that they've taken my sons personal supplies and put it with the community ones. Then, he was only given one folder which was used and abused for the entire year. Why do I have to buy more when I sent enough for him and the community pot?

For myself whatever my son’s teacher needs imma get it no questions asked. I trust her every single day to make sure my son learns, is fed and safe 7 hrs a day. All while doing the same for 20-30 other students. It’s sad that instead of putting the responsibility on the government for policy and budget change, ppl have somehow turned the convo on one another.

I teach 1st & 2nd grade and I have an autoimmune disease! I need all the Clorox wipes and tissues! I want to keep my kids healthy as well as myself. I’m over these parents complaining. Hell, we are the most underpaid & give the most! 🙄

I love buying school supplies! I love buying teacher gifts. Do I feel like teachers should be paid more and have a stipend for supplies? Yes. Teachers should never have to come out of pocket unless they want to decorate the room a certain way.
