After the UNSC reviewed satellite imagery showing that Cambodian forces had been preparing areas and constructing operational bases along the border since February 2025, and after satellite imagery detected heat signatures originating from the Cambodian side on the morning of July 24, 2025—along with confirmed attacks on civilian areas, hospitals, and schools (including hospitals that Cambodians have previously crossed the border to access for medical care)— The United Nations Security Council acknowledged the situation but did not issue any statement or resolution regarding the incident. This indicates that Thailand has the legitimate right to respond to the invading forces in order to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, the United States has authorized the use of F-16 fighter jets for self-defense and to strike back at the source of the threat.

Thailand has been helping Cambodia for years giving education to Cambodian children near the border, and letting them receive medical treatment in Thai hospitals. Thailand loses hundreds of millions of US dollars every year doing this. What Thailand got was a hospital bombing Thailand's public hospitals have a history of providing medical care to Cambodians, even when they are unable to pay, due to the high quality of care and proximity to the border.
