It was 2 degrees too warm in the shop compared to inspection. Part now undersized and scrap.

Made an order for 300 pcs of small inconel 625 pegs with 1 mm thru-holes. The tolerance area was 6 microns, and you had to comp the finishing tool for every part or else it went off tolerance 🫠

When it happens it's blissful joy. Most of the time we miss by.ooo3 and well in tolerance. But not absolute perfection. Then lay in bed thinking of a better setup or tooling.

i had a part that we ran 1500 pieces of....+/-.0005 on a 1.8775" dia bore and it was 4 inches long...doing this in a horizontal mill, in austempered ductile iron... worst...job...ever wouldn't have been a tight tolerance if it wasn't for the material and the number of parts

just made a bunch of pins the other day of 17-4 from .250 down to .210 +0.0000 -0.0002 with a surface of 16 🙃 on the manual because the CNC was tied up.
