While these pigs are mentally pets, their physical structure isn’t made to handle the weight they put on if they’re alive for more than 1-2 years. It’s way better for the pig and families they feed.

we got the Thompson family which were good friends of ours. the Thompson girl raised a cow for 4h and was crying that she had to sell it. her grandfather bought the cow so of course she was all excited and pulled the "i can't belive you would do this for me" he sent it straight to the butcher

That’s very cute but usually the pigs and cows at fairs only get sold if they’re going to a freezer before they go home 😭 at least at my local fair, idk, others might be different
