@kianatiese: The def eat more simple here which is something I’ve adjusted to over the years. When I go home I don’t eat as much because it’s always a lot! I may make a sloppy Joe soon though because it’s been a while #paris #fy #frenchfood #americaninparis
Yes ingredients, you know the "made from scratch" meals, not the all prepped shit you Americans eat

I understand what you mean. A meal feels like a fully coordinated affair instead of an adult lunchable.

I humbly disagree. Been living in France for ten years, cooking meals are a big thing. You might be thinking of the pre-meal apéro

Then ask an American person what is a cassoulet, a Boeuf Boyrguignon, a Choucroute, un Gigot de 7h, etc…the list is endless.

I don’t understand- you don’t have shops where you can buy meat/cheese not prepacked? And what are you assembling meals from if not ingredients?

More Than Paris in France :
My experience has been so different. With my French friends, it's always proper meals like bœuf bourguignonne, blanquette de veau, quiche. It might be a town vs country thing.

do you mean they eat the traditional plate of a meat + a portion of veggies + a carb separately prepared instead of making into a one pot meal kind of thing? in the Netherlands they call it AVG (aardappel - vlees - groente)

That’s a strong stereotype… we do respect products. On the weekend, or at the apéro, that’s when the real thing begins

She just defined meals, you take ingredients, cook them and boom, you have a meal. You don't need several layers or texture, you need good ingredients well cooked...
