Big news: I sold a TV series to Warner Bros. Discovery. I wasn’t sure I wanted to post this — I usually stick to sharing personal projects (film + game), not things I do for work… But this one deserved a reflective moment. For most of 2023 into 2024, I was deep in making a home renovation series — bouncing between Detroit, Wyoming, and LA (sometimes all 3 in the same 24 hours). I helped create the pilot from the ground up, and got a crash course in the industry. I’ve spent my entire adult life shooting — on the ground, in the air, and in situations where I’ve literally risked my life to get the shot. So being a camera operator wasn’t intimidating. What was new? Editing a 42+ minute piece, shaping long-form story, and learning how to work within the structure and pace of TV — not to mention working with a network. That alone would’ve been a journey, but I also had to learn budgeting at scale, timelines, contracts, negotiation. And that’s how I ended up with a title I never thought about or cared to see next to my name: Co-Executive Producer. I’ve always been a producer on my personal projects — but this was different. More people. More outside pressure. More moving parts. There’s also an insane amount of backend technical work you only learn in the fire. I’ve been making my film for almost 10 years. I’ve never doubted my skills — but I’ve still wrestled with whether my work fits a traditional industry. When your goal is to make something new, you wonder if people truly see the skill — or just that it’s… different. Selling this show shut that down. I played by the rules and delivered. Now, back to my own work — but with more belief and sharper tools. I’ve gained skill points that will help me do my story justice when the time comes. So yeah, now I can say I executive produced, filmed, and edited a TV series that sold to a major network. Fun! On to the next chapter. 🎒
