I’m disabled and on SSDI (not welfare) and they take almost $300 a month out of my income for Medicare. No choice. And it raises every year when my income doesn’t. No teeth. No eyes. No ears. I need all three but can’t afford 3 more add ons. Still have a deductible and it’s 80/20.

sad to hear this. I'm on medicaid. I pay nothing for any service I receive. I don't pay co-pays, i dont pay a premium or monthly fee. eyes and teeth are covered. I live in Virginia. the program im on is based on income. i have no income so I pay for nothing. not sure why you think you can't get coverage.

Same here, I'm in LATAM, it's similar but not the same, it's not that we can't afford a doctor's visit, but if you need to see an oncologist, you get the appointment for January 2125

There are other options. Maybe consider moving to one of the countries in Europe that offer a socialised heathcare system? For example, the UK has the NHS which offers free care at the point of use, from cradle to grave. Sure, it's paid for from your wage or benefits contributions but it sure seems superior to the US system for patients, imo.

Insurance is 100% a scam. Before it became normal and codified we used to think about insurance salesman as snake oil salesman

the problem is profit- insurance companies have an incentive to deny, and they lose money when they don't. the idea of protecting from unforeseen circumstances is good, but greed has corrupted any benefit that could have come from it

A month ago my tooth started to hurt, I made a doctor appointment using the app on my phone and then they fixed my teeth for free, literally $0. And people would be saying living in Russia is so bad. 😄

I’m far from rich or even middle class but luckily I live somewhere with universal healthcare. And with a son with epilepsy it’s a worry I don’t have. Few months ago he had a seizure on his way to work. Ambulance ride, 3 day hospital stay and new medication. Out of pocket: €70 ambulance and 0.81 cents medication.
