No, I’ve always used a belt because of my bad back, and it’s allowed in raw competition, I started using wrist wraps when I got done doing a set of 275 on bench and when I went to rack it my wrist randomly gave out and the bar fell on the rack, it’s also allowed in raw competitions, straps I use because I’ve broken both wrists and my grip strength wasn’t keeping up with the progress on deadlift, straps are also generally allowed in most raw competitions

Not cheating one bit, work smart to not get hurt but certain muscles have their limits & take longer to become strong enough. Just don’t overuse a belt, wraps, ect so you allow yourself to build strength in those muscles but when you get to certain weights you will need straps or a belt for safety.

I think they’re more like tools than cheats. Of course you can make the movements work without these things, but like anything, having the correct tools makes the job easier, there’s no point in pausing your progress in a certain movement because of your grip strength, your forearms will always be smaller than your back. I say take advantage of these items!
