🛒 Come grocery shopping with me in Japan 🇯🇵✨ Grocery shopping here looks a little different than what you might be used to! At this store, I bring my own basket — not just because it’s cute 😌 but because it’s easier to carry things back into the house and better for the environment ♻️. Bonus: you avoid paying for bags (yes, that’s a thing). Here, shopping carts are really just basket holders — you don’t throw items directly in like in the U.S. Instead, your basket sits in the cart, and you place items inside that. This store also has a self-scanning device that I love using! I always switch the language to English first, then scan each item as I shop and place it in my basket. You don’t have to use the device — you can scan with your phone using the store’s app or just shop tech-free and pay the regular way at checkout. Once I’m done, I press the payment button, scan a QR code at checkout, and it assigns me to a register. I switch that register to English too (thank you, Japan 💕), and then insert cash directly into the kiosk. It even gives change! On the way out, I scan a final QR code to return the scanner, drop it off in a tray for staff to collect later, and boom, I’m done. Next up: what I actually bought 👀🍓 Stay tuned for my grocery haul! #GroceryShoppingInJapan #JapanLife #LivingInJapan #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendlyJapan #GroceryHaul #JapaneseGroceryStore #LifeInJapan #JapanVlog #ESLTeacherLife #ExpatInJapan #ChibaJapan #SelfCheckout #TechInJapan #ComeWithMe #DayInMyLifeJapan #SmallApartmentLife #BudgetLivingJapan #GroceryRun #creatorsearchinsights
