NO TRAIN SERVICE + AUTISM ————————————————— This was the first day the train service disruption occured (I just got the time to post this today). #chefmuaz has been travelling independently by train for more than a year now. It was smooth sailing all along. This is the FIRST TIME it happens to him. I panicked a lil. I was at home. We were very far apart. There was no way I could get to him in under 15mins. Children with Autism are known to have difficulties accepting sudden changes. I was worried if he would be ok. Thankfully we put in certain measures in place just in case things like this happens. I just didn’t expect this to happen to soon. I was pretty surprised seeing him calm and collected amidst the commotion. Beyond grateful ❤️ Never underestimate our children with Autism. ————————— Dear Train Staff & Commuters, I hope you don’t forget our children on the Autism spectrum. They love to take the train. Unfortunately, they are not very good with sudden changes. They are also not very good with words. My son who has been traveling independently by train for over a year now, was affected. He was alone when it happened. I appreciate your staff’s/commuters kindness who took notice of him. I don’t blame SMRT for derailing my son’s routine. This is a good practice for him. This is life. It doesn’t always go as planned. I know that children from other special schools may also travel on their own. My son is not the only one. In spite of the chaos, my son was calm throughout the whole process. I was relieved to finally be able to see him. In case any breakdown happens again, I hope you don’t forget our special children 🙏 You have done a good job. Appreciate all the effort to try to bring the train service back. Lydia
