Men, do what you want (use common sense, nothing bad or toxic obviously) and if anybody makes fun of you for it or promotes hate about it, that’s a reflection of them and their trauma & insecurities, not you for being you. Ignore the toxicity and live your life in whatever way makes you happy.

Look, if men can’t handle being called performative (and mind you this is said bc there are actually men who are being performative and using it to prey on women to give the illusion that they’re safe), imagine how women feel getting sexually harassed when they play video games or participating in any predominantly male activity? Men have always made us feel small by asking us to prove that we like something by quizzing us. Men have always belittled feminine activities. If we can persevere with what we like even while getting harassed for it, they can handle the one word “performative.”

Men are trying to navigate being asked to set aside traditional, often toxic notions of masculinity while simultaneously facing criticism for not living up to traditional expectations of masculinity. It can’t be both. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go be vulnerable but relentlessly confident, express my feelings but never voice them, and embrace feminine-coded things while being a pastiche of a manly man.

before, men who liked even something remotely feminine like myself were called gay now its performative. i remember i got asked if i was gay for rocking earrings and going out with purses and mini backpacks. there are some cis straight men who like feminine things and thats ok. id rather have fellow men experiment more with their identity and interests than go full conservative.
