@dr.starkid: Three body problem does a thought provoking job at imagining how intelligent alien life might evolve in a very different environment than what we have on Earth. The dynamical stability of that system in the book/show doesn’t really make sense from an astrophysics perspective BUT it is sci-fi after all 😉 Check out the full episode of Curiosity Theory @Curiosity Theory @mr.fascinate #scifi #threebodyproblem #space #astronomy #science
Spoiler warning: just saw fantastic 4. Their solution to save ppl and planet earth from Galactus was to transport the entire planet to another part of space..🧐. So I turned off my brain in order to enjoy the rest of the movie 😂

But the real question is why whenever we talk about aliens the aliens have to be similar to us in the sense if we can’t survive in that plant then aliens can’t

the books are sooo good! I will say, I dont think they have mass appeal. its a sci fi book for science-y people. also its translated from Chinese, so there's some cultural things that might also be a hindrance. but if you want a great rabbit hole, plug in the website in the first book...

I think a big issue in the book, is reaching out to other galaxies expose us to advanced civilization which will destroy us. so while we send out signals blindly, that action could expose us in the dark forest, and lead to our demise.

I believe there are also other nuclear materials on planets in these systems. i believe materials that would potentially be extremely useful to an advanced society?

the books are my favorite sci Fi series and i thought the show was a solid adaptation. i hope they keep going with it, although i doubt the doomsday battle could ever live up to what the book conjured in my head

I loved that show although I agree that they kinda stretched things a bit. I find it hard to believe complex intelligent life couod ever evolve on such a world.

I love this series. Aliens with the ability to dry themselves up during the chaos periods is different. My only thing with the trisolarians is why didn’t they just get rid of one of the stars if they had the ability to make sophons. Surely they could do that.
