Yeah these were called “carhops”. Very popular for teens to hang out in the 50s and 60s. You’ll see them in movies like “American Graffiti”. But just like Drive In movie theaters, carhops are not very common anymore. They are more of a novelty or nostalgic.

Drive ins were super popular in the the 1950s and 60s they pretty much been replaced by drive thru now Sonic and AnW are pretty much the only chains left that do drive in I think

Happy Days, in the very beginning, Arnold's was a drive in too. There was a girl character who brought stuff to the cars. on roller skates. ALSO, when our local Sonic first opened, they were on skates!

I am 54 and grew up Sonics they use to have little plastic monkeys to hold the cherries in drink.

yes sonic was a cool spot a loooong time ago. dunno how they stay in business. the drinks I suppose but I don't know anyone who's been in the last decade
