I wasn’t D1 but I was a college athlete in a “real” sport. I train way more as an adult ammy eventer than I ever did as a college athlete. So tired of the argument that equestrians aren’t athletes.

this!!! it’s so hard trying to explain ihsa to people because they hear “club” or “not d1” and think that means it isn’t competitive. but it is very competitive, regardless of whether you’re funded or not !!!! and there are so many ihsa teams out there with full funding too!! (and competing against them when your team doesn’t have funding and holding your own is so impressive)

I rode for WVU 20+ years ago in IHSA. Even back then we were able to get priority scheduling. And they gave us a bus for away shows. Fun times!

That’s why USET started to push ISEA programs for younger riders. Theses young riders are the future of our sport. Just “cuz the horse does all the work” doesn’t mean we don’t work our butts off
