My therapist died last summer, and her office never notified me. I texted and emailed her but, of course, got no response. I had thought she just dropped me until months later, I randomly decided to Google her, and her obit came up. I’m still grieving.

My mom died and was a therapist and according to her coworkers they called all of her clients. Like 4 months after she died one of her clients messaged me on IG said he was one of my mom’s client and wondered if she was okay. When I said she wasn’t they said “okay well since your mom is not my therapist anymore do you wanna go on a date” 💀

i saw my psychiatrist every week for a decade. she had to releas me into the wild when she had to stop practicing due to a terminal illness. It's been 6yrs but I still think of her often and dk if she's passed..it's a weird kind of grief to have.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. Mine is private practice and doesn’t live in my state. I’ve been asked to sit on the state licensing board so maybe I’ll know that way?

Not a therapist, but my gp was killed in a motorcycle accident many years ago - it was a small village with only one gp practice, although that practice has 4-5 gps. In this case, it was front page in the local newspaper, and a considerable number of his friends, colleagues and patients attended his funeral. That being said he was very well know in the village, kids in the village school etc

My therapist has an emergency heart surgery. She has a private practice and I was virtual. She had an assistant call me. I never even knew she had an assistant. Haven’t heard of this person before or since. All I knew was that it was an emergency surgery and I knew it was heart because I could see her scar when she got back. But she was out for 6 weeks and I was sad and terrified the entire time.

A therapist at the practice where I go, had a medical event and died in the car park of the clinic, with patients waiting for her. It was awful. The media found out and were there taking photos of the place and blasting it everywhere. It was awful. The lack of privacy for the family, staff and other patients was awful.
