I wouldn't blame them. My 23 year old cant afford to live on his own.

In 1969, we didn't have internet, Amazon, mobile phones, computers, televisions in every room, 18 kinds of cheese at the store. There are so many more opportunities for young people, and for now at least, women than in 1969. We had Sunday clothes, school clothes and play clothes and 3 pairs of shoes to last a year. I'm grateful for all I have now but it's not really comparable to life in 1969.

Yes and no. In 1969, success was 1 family car and a 1000 sq ft house. It's different now because people want 2 vehicles and a 3000 sq ft house with 2 car garage. It can be done by today's young adults, too. My daughter & friends are doing it. But people have to realize they aren't going to start at the same level their parents are currently.

We didnt have all the extras people have these days either. Cable, internet, cells, computers, all the apps, security alarms, etc. Back then we weren’t embarrassed to drive old clunkers. People didn’t have campers, boats, jet skis, pools, etc.

I grew up during a time that most dads worked in factories, not office jobs. Moms had jobs, but not mine, there were 5 of us, well spaced in age. Coupons, sales, hand me downs, were normal. We had two vehicles, but my daddy worked all the hours available. He and mother didn’t blow money. We had a 2 acre garden and we had to work. Each of us were working to earn money about the time we turned 12 or 13. It was a struggle but it’s always a struggle. I struggled when I started out, too. There are numerous reasons that things are harder now, but it hasn’t even been easy.

20,00 dollars a year in 1969 is equivalent to 175,185.29 dollars a year in 2025.

My parents didnt lease a new car they couldn’t afford every two years to look cool, take trips for the purpose of posting on Insta, stop for a latte every morning, nor had 10 monthly subscriptions so they could stare at a device all day. You reap what you sow.

People didn’t go on vacations, eat out, etc. You are comparing apples to the Loch Ness Monster.
