My response is always “because if I’m not there on your worst days then I don’t deserve to be with you on your best days”. I also made her cry when she found out I did extensive research on BPD so I could better understand what she’s going through and how to help. We’re going strong on 5 years together

my bf and i both have BPD, and i think this is the healthiest ive ever been. We recognize when the other person is trying to split or push away and know how to calm each other down even down to how to hug or hold hands in a calming way. Its so beautiful but also I just cant help but wonder how he loves me when I’m constantly in an emotional war with myself. I love him 😭

as someone with diagnosed bpd, we need to take responsibility sometimes. yes, we’ve been through trauma, but that’s not an excuse for poor behaviour. i honestly don’t think someone should try to date unless they are actively trying to work on their symptoms because it is unfair to other people and it’s okay if not everyone else understands because it IS such a complex and intense disorder and it is also difficult for the other person too. not saying people with bpd are bad people or all of us act the same way as there is also quiet bpd, and just to be clear, im not saying we don’t deserve love or anything like that at all. im just saying that we should try to work on ourselves for both our benefit and our partners. i know it may seem impossible, but it’s not! managing your symptoms through dbt and other things is possible! i hope everyone heals xx

My partner brings this up to me all the time and it makes me so sad. Like what do you mean nobody else has ever put in the effort to even try to understand? Hes not hard to love at all. Hes so so easy to love. And understanding the way his brain works and affects him is not a difficult thing to learn when u truely TRUELY love someone. I genuinely cant fathom how some people are too ignorant to try and see it from a different perspective to their own. It breaks my heart that this is a universal experience.
