They added a new floor position: Green Apron Host. Literal just stand there to hand off drinks and talk to customers. That’s it. Not allowed to do anything else but stand there and interact with customers

Dinosaur partner here, some parts of what they told you are a bit of an exaggeration. It’s more about tone matching than asking how someone’s day is going if they’re having a bad day. As an example; if they seem somber or down, matching it by keeping a quieter tone etc. If they walk in like it’s party time, it’s party time. If a SM is telling people to ask people how their day is if they seemed depressed then they missed the whole point of the meeting. “Handoff” partner got rebranded and won’t even be a thing unless the store is earning that kind of labor and most stores don’t till they get past 10 part plays. It’s all just trying to get back in the realm of pre-covid connecting with customers.

Girl they’re adding the green apron service model about being invested in customers AND expect our drive times to be <30 seconds out the window AND apparently no customers should be waiting for their mobile or cafe orders for more than 4 minutes all while still not allowing us more labor to accommodate these expectations.

Idk, I surprised a lady with a cake pop the other day.. and she cried. She said she’s had the worst two weeks and we chatted. I find it nice. But I guess that’s why I work in a cafe store. I love my customers.

Mmm I wouldn’t say it’s that intense we just have a new position strictly dedicated to connecting with customers. Where I see this might fail is if we have call outs or they won’t provide enough coverage for the actual floors tor run. For everyone else, the standards of connection are just greet warmly, try and remember names and orders and thanks with eye contact
