The assault targeted critical civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools filled with children, a gas station, and a 7-Eleven convenience store. As a result of this heinous act, more than two schoolchildren were tragically killed, and a total of eight innocent civilians — including children — lost their lives. Such an attack represents a grave breach of moral and legal norms, and underscores a deeply concerning disregard for civilian life by the Cambodian authorities. We, the people of Thailand, hereby declare that our nation has always stood for peace, diplomacy, and mutual respect among neighboring countries. However, recent acts of aggression initiated by the Kingdom of Cambodia have violated these principles and endangered innocent Thai lives. On 24 July 2025, Cambodian military forces fired the first shots, thereby initiating an unprovoked act of war against Thailand. As a result, Thai civilians and soldiers have lost their lives, and the sovereignty of our nation has been threatened. While Thailand deliberately uses F-16 and drones to target Khmer BM-21, the Thai military avoids using long-range weapons out of concern that they might harm Cambodian civilians. But what the Khmer military commanders have done is place BM-21s right in the middle of civilian communities that haven’t even been evacuated and those BM-21s haven’t been destroyed yet. What kind of madness is this? The Thai military is protecting the lives of Cambodian civilians more than the Khmer military itself.

And Thailand has always desired peace and has supported the Cambodian people in many ways for decades. Thai hospitals have treated Cambodian patients free of charge, and numerous scholarships have been granted to Cambodian students. Looking back at history, during the Khmer Rouge regime, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit helped establish refugee camps to provide safety and support. Thai employers have also hired many Cambodian workers, enabling them to earn a living and send money home to their families. Despite all these efforts, it often feels like nothing Thailand does is ever enough. #TruthFromThailand
