While we, the Thai people, are deeply pained by the recent covert attacks from Cambodia — which have resulted in the loss of innocent lives — we are also saddened that a neighboring country has taken actions that have further escalated the situation. What hurts us even more is the international media coverage that portrays Thailand as the aggressor, a nation that resorts to violence — despite the fact that Thailand has made every possible effort to avoid the use of force. We respectfully call upon all international media outlets reporting on the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia to present the facts truthfully, fairly, and responsibly. We continue to believe in the integrity, ethics, and moral responsibility of journalism — which we trust will help the world understand this situation with impartiality and justice.

What must be condemned as a clear violation of humanitarian principles is the deliberate attack on innocent Thai civilians and the assault on a hospital. Everyone knows that hospitals are places where the elderly and children are present in large numbers. This doesn’t even include the convenience stores that were also attacked. How many people died? How many were injured? Surely, you cannot claim ignorance — you knew there were people inside the hospital, didn’t you? Do you realize that the Thai military responded by targeting military forces, not Cambodian civilians?
