@louisamunch: The rise of REFORM 🏴 if you watch any video to the end today please watch this one 🙏🏼 #philosophy #criticaltheory #politics #fyp #EduTok
I do think us Brits 🇬🇧 are definitely more clued up than the MAGA crowd… looks like some of them are starting to wake up, but it’s a bit late for them, we need to band together to stop what Farage is doing as blindly following will only hurt the poorest — and Trumps “Big Beautiful Bill” is on its way here. First stop won’t be immigration… it’ll be benefit cuts and slashing public services. All done with DOGE: Distraction. Outrage. Gaslighting. Exploitation.

Stumbling across this felt like a bittersweet return to my university days. It’s hard not to be entirely nihilistic after reading the works of Chomsky, Godwin, Arendt etc, and to then feel the mental torture of being from a northern working class background, trying to explain that the reductionist scapegoating of immigrants is not in fact the cause of everyone’s problems. I can only hope for a sudden surge in critical thought and intellectualism though in a world where people are asking ChatGPT what to have for breakfast, I’m somewhat doubtful.

Most people won't critically think, and never will, thats why those leaders use the media to drum up hate.
whoever leaders the 'your party' needs to use the same tactics, not logic, but emotion and blame billionares.
This is the only way, imo.

It’s always so entertaining to read the comment section of an expert speaking about their expertise. It’s like a war call to every year 9 drop out to come along and try to prove that the 3 articles they read in the Daily Mirror, gives them more credibility than an actual expert who is studying this stuff at PHD level. It’s fascinating really, but funny nonetheless. 🤣

Oooh some of these comments indicate it did indeed land on a certain side of tiktok… on another note, Guattari’s essay Everybody Wants to be a Fascist was the singular thing that brought these ideas together for me. I really believe we can’t understand fascism on the molar level without looking at the molecular, and this is especially true when we consider nostalgia! Have you read Toscano’s Late Fascism yet? It’s on my list but only read a wee bit so far, would love to hear your thoughts! Keep making these videos, we need more young women in academia building public platforms!!

Very good. But I think you need to do more on what we can do about the situation. Education helps I know but how do we change neoliberal ideology when it’s been embedded since Thatcher. Essentially we do need reform just not Nigel’s version.

a lot of these comments genuinely worry me, because it seems a lot of folks have no clue what facism is (news flash: its not a lefty, socialist or communist ideology)

Great summery! Any chance you have some recommendations on the topic of the fragmentation of the left? It is quite frustrating for me how the right seems better at collaborating (ironically even internationally) than the left. I am aware that it is easier for them to mobilize people because of the reduction of a plethora of problems to a single scapegoat. But the left actually has a rather clear and factual enemy (Neoliberalism) and fails to make use of that most of the time imo. (Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.)

As they say those earning £1000 per hour are trying to convince those earning £50 per hour that the problem are those that earn £10 per hour ….. wake up folks the enemy is not the poor or the immigrants you are looking in the wrong place 😳

What is the endgame? When Farage gets in, are all the foreigners (all non white people) thrown out/driven out of the country? Scary times.

Have you read Guattari’s “Everyone Wants to be a Fascist?” There is a slight pressure for nostalgia in his argument, “nowadays no one is surprised to hear someone speak of a ‘desire for revolution’”

The true reductionism is the false dichotomy of the economism of the left vs the economism of the right. We need a new politics that transcends this but as soon as anyone dares think outside the box the labels start being hurled at them

Actually Communism has killed far more people than fascism. Make sure the impact of this message is heard by the 'far left' as it is their direction that needs to be altered to prevent this rise. 'Nature' simply creates, or attempts to create balance. the Fox and Rabbit population curve is a simple example of this. Unfortunately those who need to hear it most will heed it the least.

they've identified the problems and deliberately don't have the education to recognise that the current system is working as it should and reform is going to make it worse.
