I learned in my mid teens that some of my favorite fanfic authors had whole families, houses, and big grown up jobs. I’m still amazed that they were all able to create such masterpieces with their spare time! Truly salute them for their service 🫡

The best fanfiction I’ve ever read in my life have been written by adults with whole families, careers, etc. Fandom stays alive because of the adults participating in it.

Also writing and reading fanfic is free?? I feel like every time I leave the house I spend $30. But if I make myself an iced coffee at home then cuddle up on the couch to read or write fanfic... thats free and Im being fiscally responsible by saving my money 😂

Ao3 is free and I am barely making rent. I don't have to use what little brainpower I have left after a hard day or week trying to get invested in a new book universe when I can just fall down a Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed or DC rabbit hole. Some people like trash TV, but I prefer fic.
